?What was the inspiration behind the creation of this book??
Collins? poems are inspired by everyday matters, like his poem ?Hell? that was inspired while he was shopping for mattresses. He says this is so because he wants his poems to be accessible so that the reader can enter it from the very simple beginning, guiding it through a gradually deepening sense as it goes along. The inspiration for the title of the collection was his longtime friend Michael Shannon (mentioned in this guide in another section), who already passed away a few years ago. They celebrated their birthdays around the same time of the year, so when he reads his horoscope in the morning he always tends to read Shannon?s horoscope, too (?So after he died, I'd read my Aries and shift over to his Pisces.?). It is a habit he hasn?t discarded and he said he likes the hopeless optimism the title conveys...
Don't miss out! It's highly recommended.
